Our Freshman Blue got off to a great start with their victory Saturday. Both sides played very hard. They play Lampasas this Thursday @ 4:40 pm. Great job!

Brenham High School
Freshman Blue Defeat Brenham
The Stony Point Freshman Blue football team rolled to a 35-16 victory over the Brenham Cubs. Jihad Johnson capped the opening drive with a 2-yard plunge. Kory Leis added the PAT. PL Lindley hauled in a 26 yard pass from Gus Barrera on the Tigers second possession. Leis added the PAT. Johnson broke loose for an 80 yard TD run behind a crushing block by Christian Butler on the opening play of the second half. Leis was true again. Leis grabbed a 16-yard pass from Barrerra and added the kick. Sam Kelley punched it in from 4 yards out for the Tigers final score. Leis added the PAT. Joseph McFayden recovered a fumble and piled on numerous hits. Jordan Wade forced a fumble and was solid in the Tiger defensive front. Craig Soloman was a difference maker in the defensive line as well. Jason Cuellar led the Stony Point defensive secondary attack. Lindley and Kelley were special team leaders for the Tigers.

Austin High School
Freshman Blue Wins vs. Austin High
The Stony Point Tiger freshman Blue team knocked off Austin High 26-16 to take its record to 2-0 on the season. PL Lindley grabbed a pair of touchdown passes from Gus Barrera to lead the Tiger scoring attack. Sam Kelly broke loose for a 64 yard touchdown run. Kory Leis kicked field goals from 37 and 22 yards and was perfect on 3 PAT kicks. Jack Savoca delivered numerous bone crushing blocks from the fullback position. Trevor Caswell turned in the defensive hit of the game to stonewall the Maroon offense. The Tigers are back on the road next week versus Killeen Ellison. Game time is set for 7:00.

Freshman Blue Drop a Close One
The Killeen Ellison Eagles came out on top of a high scoring and physical contest 46-39. PL Lindley scored first for the Tigers after scooping up an Eagle fumble and rolling 24-yards to paydirt. Kory Leis kicked the extra point. Aaryn Sharp connected with Leis for a 47-yard TD strike. Gus Barrera hit Sam Kelly for a 60-yard score. Leis scrambled 67 yards on a fake punt to paydirt. Sharp hit Josh Richardson for 32-yard touchdown pass, followed by Leis with a PAT. David Ramming grabbed an 8-yard pass from Sharp to finish the Tiger scoring attack. Leis added the kick. The Tigers open up 14-5A play next Thursday at McNeil. Game time is 7:00 PM.

Freshman Blue Drop Another Close One
The Stony Point Tiger freshman Blue football team fell to McNeil 28-22. Jordan Wade scooped up a Maverick fumble and rumbled 48 yards for the score and Kory Leis kicked the extra point to give the Tigers a 7-6 2nd quarter lead. Joseph McFaden intercepted a McNeil pass to set up a short field in the final period for the Tiger offense. David Ramming took advantage by hauling in an 18-yard strike from Aaron Sharp. The Tiger defense held the Mavs on downs to get the ball back to the offensive unit. Sam Kelly quickly scored from 18 yards out. Gus Barrera connected with Josh Richardson for the 2-point play to tie the game with only minutes remaining. The Tigers fall to 2-2 and line up next week against the Round Rock Dragons. That game is at Stony Point and will start at 7:00 PM next Thursday.

Freshman Blue Drop Another Close One
The Stony Point Freshman Blue football team fell to Round Rock 14-6. Gus Barrera scored the Tigers lone touchdown. Sam Kelly and Aaron Sharp turned in a number of impressive runs. PL Lindley, Joseph McFaden, and Monday Akinbode led a solid Stony Point defensive effort. Chris Spikes recovered a fumble. Jordan Wade blocked a Dragon punt. Joel Devasty, Julian MacDonnell and Conner Gear were strong on special teams. The Tigers are back at home next Thursday versus Cedar Park. Game time is 7:00.

Freshman Blue Beat Cedar Park
The Stony Point Tiger Freshman Blue football team rolled to a 55-28 win over Cedar Park. Jihad Johnson and Sam Kelley each scored twice to lead the Tigers offensively.Jack Savoca and Gus Barrera each added touchdown runs and Aaron Sharp hauled in a touchdown pass. Barrera and Sharp each threw touchdown passes. Kory Leis kicked 5 PAT's and Sharp added a 2-point run. Connor Geear scooped up a fumble forced by Kelley and rumbled in for the touchdown. Seth Wilson collected a fumble recovery. Monday Akinbode blocked a punt to set up a quick strike for the Tiger offense. The Tigers improve to 3-3 for the season.

Freshman Blue Beats Leander
The Stony Point Freshman Blue knocked off the Leander Lions 30-20 to improve its season record to 4-3. The defensive unit got things going early with a Monday Akinbode scoop and score set up by Joel Devastey's forced fumble. Gus Barrera connected with Aaron Sharp for two touchdown strikes on the night, from 33 and 30 yards. Ryan Kelly gashed the Lion defense for a 46-yard touchdown scamper late in the game to seal the victory. Kory Leis kicked a 31-yard field goal and added 3 extra points. Akinbode collected a second fumble and Ryan Owens also gathered up a fumble for the Tiger defense.

Freshman Blue vs. Pflugerville
The Stony Point Freshman Blue football team fell to the Pflugerville Panthers 45-43 in a barn burner. Gus Barrera scored on a 7-yard run and threw four touchdown passes to lead the Tigers offensive attack. PL Lindley caught a 24-yard touchdown strike, Aaron Sharp and David Ramming each hauled in 22-yard touchdown passes, and Jordan Wade gathered in a 9-yard TD fling. Aaron Sharp connected with David Ramming for a 16-yard touchdown. Wade caught two 2-point passes, one from Sharp and one from Barrera. Kory Leis added two PAT kicks. Defensively for the Tigers, Lindley, Sharp, and Monday Akinbode each collected fumbles.

Freshman Blue Win vs. Georgetown
The Stony Point Freshman Blue football team beat Georgetown 35-13 to improve its season record to 5-4.
Chris Spikes got the Tigers rolling by picking off an Eagle pass and returning it 50 yards to paydirt. Kory Leis added the extra point. Jihad Johnson rumbled in from 12 yards for the Tigers next score. Leis added the PAT. Aaron Sharp hauled in a pair of touchdown passes, one from 24 yards and one from 6 yards, from Gus Barrera. Leis added both PATs. Jordan Wade scored the Tigers final touchdown of the night on a 22-yard fling from Barrera. Leis was true again. Monday Akinbode collected a fumble and Wade added a sack to lead the Tigers defensive attack. Aaron Sharp blocked a punt and Kenny Finch collected an onside kick to lead Stony Point's special teams.

Westwood High School
Freshman Blue vs. Westwood
The Stony Point Freshman Blue football team knocked off the Westwood Warriors 35-6 to finish the 2007 season with a 6-4 record. Sam Kelley took a Gus Barrera pass 45 yards to score the Tigers first touchdown. Aaron Sharp connected with Joseph McFayden for the 2-point PAT. Sharp then went on to haul in a pair of touchdown passes from Barrera from 8 and 62 yards, respectively. Kory Leis added the PAT following the second TD. Barrera hooked up with David Ramming for an 8-yard touchdown to cap off the Tigers first drive of the second half. Kelly scampered in from 42 yards out for the Tigers final touchdown of the season. Barrera connected with Sharp for the 2-point PAT. The defensive unit forced 3 fumbles to disrupt the Warriors offensive attack. Shane Cano, David Moreno, and PL Lindley recovered those fumbles for Stony Point. The Tigers finished 4-3 in 14-5A play.
