JV Gold vs Westwood

JV Gold to 3-0

The Stony Point Tigers were victorious over the Westwood Warriors in an exciting game dominated by defense. The Warriors got the ball first and were forced to punt early by the Tigers' dominating defense. Conner Gear picked up a muffed snap by the Warriors punt team which gave the Tiger offense outstanding field position. The Tiger offense scored on their first offensive play on a 6-yard touchdown run by Christian Torres. The 2 point conversion was successful with an Andrew Brown pass to Kevin Kantosky.

It wasn't until the third quarter when the Warriors were able put up their first points of the game on a 35-yard field goal, making it an 8 - 3 game. The Warriors were then able to score again on their next series. They failed to make the extra point, making it an 8 - 9 game.

The Stony Point offense then rallied, putting together a 70-yard scoring drive. The touchdown came on a fourth down and 6 on an Andrew Brown pass caught by Tyler Welch in the end zone. The touchdown and failed conversion lead to the final score of 14-9 after the Tiger defense stopped Westwood on a fourth down attempt with 17 seconds left in the game.

The Tigers then answered back on a long run by Christian Torres. They went for the 2-point conversion and were succeful on a pass from Andrew Brown to Patrick Huey to go up 8-7. JV Gold vs Georgetown

JV Go To 4-1

The Stony Point Tigers beat Georgetown in a close, hard fought game. Georgetown got the ball first and methodically moved the ball down the field against a flat Stony Point defense to go ahead 7-0. The Tigers didn't waste any time, however, as they struck quick on their first play of the game. A 70-yard double pass from Juan Silguero to Andrew Brown to Cody Ronk scored the Tigers' first touchdown tying the game at 7.

Georgetown got the ball again and marched down the field, scoring again going ahead 13-7 after a failed extra point attempt. The Tiger offense, after hitting a big one on the first play then turned the ball over twice to Georgetown on their next two possessions which set up Georgetown’s 3rd TD of the game.

Just when it looked like the game could get out of hand, the Tiger offense got into rhythm and scored on their next series on an outstanding 22-yard run by Danny Hines. This score put the Tigers down by 7 going into halftime.

After the half, the Tiger defense came up big on a 4th down and 3 and on Georgetown’s next possession an interception by Joshua Pitre. Following the INT the Tiger offense worked themselves into scoring position on a nice catch by Kevin Kantowski and a 50-yard run by Danny Hines. These plays set up a touchdown pass by Andrew Brown to TE Patrick Huey, knotting the game at 21. The Tigers then recovered a muffed ball on the kick off following the TD which set up their 4th TD of the night. The go-ahead TD was on a 20-yard run by Danny Hines.

However, the game wasn't over yet as the Georgetown offense marched down the field and scored with just over 3 minutes remaining in the game. Georgetown elected to go for the win on a 2-point conversion, but was met head on by slew of Tigers, keeping them out of the end zone and protecting the 1-point lead. With 3 minutes left in the game, the Tiger offense was able to pick up 2 huge first downs which melted the clock and then got in their victory formation to hit a knee on the final 2 plays.

---

Our Gold group stopped a 2-point conversion to assure the victory over Georgetown. Our offense played well and the defense hung in there for the victory. They are now 4-1 for the year.

With little time left in the half, Nathan Sanchez came up with a huge interception and 35-yard return, setting up the Tiger offense with one chance to score before the half. The Tiger offense capitalized on the turnover as Andrew Brown threw a 20-yard pass, finding Cameron Holloway in the back of the end zone.
