Varsity vs. Alamo Heights High School

Varsity Wins Over San Antonio Alamo Heights

Our varsity group won convincingly Thursday 58-16. We beat a former state champion and a team that had lost only 3 games in the past two years; also their quarterback is going to OU. The defense was good, holding them to 267 yards total and scoring 9 points. Our offense was explosive with 594 yards total and scoring 49 points. We had many kids play very well and we must continue to get better if we are to contend for a play-off spot this year.

Great Job!

Varsity vs. Pflugerville Connally

Varsity Stony Point 33-17 Over Pflugerville Connally

Our Varsity group came through with points in the 4th quarter to defeat Pflugerville Connally and go 2-0 for the year. We played an uncharacteristic game prior to the 4th quarter with us leading at half 9-7 and tied 17-17 going into the 4th. We lost the ball 3 times and, if you include two 4th and 1's and one botched kick-off return, a grand total of 6 times, while we got 2 from them. We dominated the yardage categories 369 to 102 and our defense was outstanding all night, giving up only 10 points. Our offense struggled but ended up doing OK with 33 points. This was a big win for this program in that it was the first ever vs. Connally.

We play @ Waco this week @ 7:30 PM and will depart here @ 3:30 for the trip with charter busses paid for by the booster club. We had a great crowd and look forward to this weeks matchup vs. Waco.

Great Job!!

Varsity vs. Waco ISD

Varsity Loses vs. Waco 9-3

In a defensive battle, we lost to Waco 9-3. Our offense had 226 yards and we held them to 73 yards, yet we could not get the ball in the end zone. Waco has a very good defense, but our offense has to find its swagger again. Our defense was outstanding but we have to have all three phases working to get a victory. We play Westwood next and are hopeful to get a victory.

Our offense moved the ball well throughout the night and our Special Teams came through with 2 big KO returns - one for a TD. With the win, we ensured ourselves a play-off spot, going 5-0 in district and 7-1 for the year.

Varsity vs. Vista Ridge

Varsity Wins 56-17 over Vista Ridge - Clinch District Championship

Our Varsity dominated an undermanned Vista Ridge group 56-17. They were without their QB, LB, RB, and DB -- all very good players. We blocked 4 punts in the first quarter to go up 21-0. We were up 35-7 at the half and cruised to the victory. We had many of our kids get an opportunity to play this game and they performed well. Our defense was good and our offense was limited in how many plays they had. We are now 8-1 and District Champions for the 2nd straight year!

We will play Round Rock for the outright District Championship next week. We are the #1 seed for the Division I play-offs and will play the game at Parmer probably on Friday @ 7:30.

Our Varsity shook off a lackluster offensive performance in the first half to go on to victory 41-7. The defense held them to 116 yards total (386.1 Avg.) and dominated them in a wind - blown game. This victory gave us the 2nd consecutive play-off win in our young history! We are now Bi-District Champions and Area Finalists vs The Woodlands Friday @ RRISD Stadium @ 7:30 P.M. Our kids played well in the wind and we took advantage of their turnovers. We are now 10-1 for the best record in school history! Great Job!!!!!!!!!!

Varsity Wins Vs. The Woodlands 21-7 -- Advance to First Regional Appearance

Our Varsity defeated The Woodlands 21-7 to proceed to the Regional round of the State Play-Offs and go to 11-1 for the year. The Woodlands fell to 9-2.

Our guys came out strong defensively in the 1st quarter playing error-free football. Our offense hung in there and scored 14 in the first half for a 14-0 advantage. We fumbled the ball in the 3rd to give The Woodlands the ball in a good situation and they finally scored on 4th and 1. Our offense responded with a score to win 21-7. Our defense gave up only 159 yards total while our offense had 294 yards for the game, scoring more than anyone had all year on The Woodlands. Our kids played with emotion throughout the entire gane and we are very proud of the record-setting performance. We play Garland this Saturday @ 2:00 P.M. @ Baylor University. Great Job!!!!!!!!!!!

Varsity vs. Garland

Varsity Defeats Garland 38-6 - Makes Quarter-Finals - First Time in RRISD History!

The Varsity defeated Garland 38-6 to advance to the Quarter-Finals for the first team ever from RRISD! This means no team in the history of RRISD has ever made it further than we have! We are now 12-1 for the year and we face Dallas Skyline in the Quarter-Finals this next Saturday @ 2:00 PM at Baylor's Stadium. Skyline will be a good team as they are also 12-1 for the year and have over 5100 students to draw from.

Our game started out very well as we defended Garland well and our offense hit some big pass plays. We also blocked a punt and an extra point to help us in the special teams area. Not to mention the KOR for a TD which was real exciting. Our kids faced a rather confident Garland team and conqured them with relative ease 31-6 at the Halftime. We controlled the game from that point on and added another score in the second half for the final victory. Our kids played very well and I was proud of their efforts throughout the game. Great Job!!!!!!!!!!!!

Varsity vs. Dallas Skyline

Varsity Beats Dallas Skyline 28-14 - Quarter-Final - Final Champions 13-1

Our Varsity defeated Dallas Skyline 28-14 to become the Quarter-Finals Champion and go to 13-1 for the year. We will play Allen, also 13-1, next Saturday @ Baylor Stadium @ 2:00 PM and we will be the Home Team! This is the Semi-Finals and there are only 4 teams in the state of Texas remaining in the play-offs!

We started the game very well on offense with 256 yards and 21 points the first half. Our defense did well and held them to 7 points. We came out in the second half and had a big stop on 4th down; our offense got things going again after we completed a fake punt to go up 28-7 with just over 5 minutes left. We recovered an onside kick and held them at the very end of the game. I was very proud of our kids' efforts and desire to win vs a talented group from Dallas. Allen will be an outstanding team following their victory vs Euless Trinity. Great job!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Varsity vs. Allen

Varsity Closes Down Wonderful Year 23-21 Monday December 15, 2008

Our Varsity outplayed Allen with 385 yards to 180 for Allen, but lost 23-21 in a excruciating game. We came back from a 17-7 deficit to go ahead 21-17 with 2:31 left in the game. Allen drove down and scored with 35 seconds remaining. Our kids fought hard versus a team that was ranked #3 in the nation and who had just come off beating the #1 ranked team in the nation. I am very proud of our kids and coaches for representing Round Rock and Stony Point in such a first class manner. It has been a privledge to be the Head Coach of this team from Stony Point!

13-2 - District Champions (Back to Back) - Bi-District Champions - Area Champions - Quarter Final Champions and Semi-Finalist. Great Job!
