Euless Trinity

Stony Point Loses in a Close One to Euless Trinity - Finishy 13-2

Our Varsity lost 35-28 to a very good football team in the State-Semi Finals. We played from behind for the entire game but we never gave up and had a shot at winning the game in the end. Our defense was hit with some trick plays and big pass plays that we normally did not give up this year. Our offense had some reasonable success but was unable to keep things going in the 2nd half. I was very proud of our kids in their effort as well as their demeanor. I am also very proud of our fans who showed up for this game as well as throughout the play-offs. We finish 13-2 with our 3rd District Championship and our 2nd consecutive Regional Championship and 3rd place finish overall in the 5A State Championship. We have lost only 4 times by a total margin of 19 points in the past 2 years. Great Job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cypress Woods

Point Prevails vs Cy-Woods 55-12 - (Semi-Finalist 2nd Straight Year!)

Our Varsity defeated Cypress Woods 55-12 in dominating fashion. We fell behind early only to roar back and be up 28-6 at the half. We continued to pour it on in the 2nd half with an opening 101 kickoff return and a smothering defense. We are now 13-1 for the year following a 13-2 year in '08. Our defense held them to 138 total yards and 12 points, while they were averaging 37 points per game. With this win, we are now where we were last year -- a State Semi-Finalist -- and we are playing Euless Trinity at 2:00 PM @ Waco ISD stadium on Saturday. Our kids want to win the State Champiopnship this year and we know this will be a tough game. Thanks to all who continue to support our Round Rock boys! Great Job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tyler Lee

Point Wins vs Tyler Lee 27-23

Our Varsity continued its 2nd half dominance in coming from behind from 16-7 to win 27-23 over Tyler Lee. This marks the 2nd consecutive game we have been down in the first half to make a comeback and win. We are now 12-1 for the year as we move on to the State Quarter-Finals. Our kids got off to a slow start vs a very talented Lee team. Our offense exploded in the 2nd half with 20 points, while our defense settled down to hold them to 7 points. This was a very exciting game and our crowd played a major role in our success. Our kids never gave in or up and simply wanted to win the game more than our opponents. We are excited to play Cy-Woods next Saturday @ 6:00 @ the Berry Center. Great Job!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Woodlands

Stony Point Defeats Woodlands 38-24

Our Varsity got a huge victory Saturday in The Woodlands. We were down 17-3 at half and stormed back the 2nd half to outscore them 35 to 7. Our team never gave up and we instilled our will on them, along with the rabid fans behind us. Our offense rushed for 351 yards while passing for 101 and our defense held them to a total of 309 for the night. Our kids were resiliant and stayed the course under dire circumstances and came out victorious over a previously unbeaten Woodlands team. We are now 11-1 for the year and we play Tyler Lee next Saturday @ 7:30 @ Waco ISD stadium. Thanks to all that made the long drive to support our kids. Great Job!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cypress Falls

Stony Point Dominates Cv-Falls 56-7

Our Varsity ran its all-time playoff record to 6-2 in demolishing Cy-Falls 56-7 and earning the Bi-District Championship. Our team played an entire game for really the first time this year in improving to 10-1 for the year. Our offense was in sync throughout the night, accumulating over 660 yards, while our defense limited their offense to 181 total. We had many big plays that proved to be their undoing. Our special teams also did well overall. We will play the winner of The Woodlands and Klein Forest game next week. Great Job!!!!!!!!!!!

Round Rock

Varsity Wins Over Round Rock 31-14 (3rd District Championship in a Row!)

Our Varsity capped off another fine campaign in defeating Round Rock for the 3rd time in the past 3 years 31-14. In winning vs Round Rock we are Co-District Champions with Cedar Park going 6-1 on the year and tying them. Even though we lost to them, we beat Westwood and they lost to Westwood, thus the Co-Championships. Our team played much improved vs Round Rock in minimizing our penalties and turnovers. Our guys played well on both sides of the ball and our special teams did well. We are now 9-1 for the year and 19-2 in district play the past 3 years in a row. This also is our 3rd District Championship in a row! We will play someone from the Cy-Fair district; we will know who and when and where Sunday. Great Job!!!!!!!!!!

Vista Ridge

Varsity Wins 38-7 over Vista Ridge

Our Varsity is now 8-1 on the year with an unimpressive victory over Vista Ridge. Our offense hit them with some big plays but had too many turnovers/penalties for us to think we can go far in the play-offs this year. Our defense played very well in recording the shut-out. We must clean up our issues on offense and continue to play sound defense if we are to try and repeat last year's run. Great Job!!!!!!!!!

Cedar Park

Varsity Loses 28-21

Our Varsity guys lost 28-21 vs Cedar Park. We are now 7-1 and 4-1 in district play. We had our chances, but made too many mistakes to take advantage of the opportunities we had. Our offense was erratic and our defense was the same. We had a bad snap on our punt team that proved to be our undoing. They did a good job running the ball and hit us with some pass plays that hurt, even though we did create 3 TO's. Our offense must work on the penalties that continue to plague us and hurt us offensively. Still with all that being said, we had an opportunity to win the game at the end. We are a good football team but not great. We will continue to try and get better this short week vs Vista Ridge @ the Palace.

McNeil

Stony Point Varsity Defeats McNeil 21-14

Our Varsity beat McNeil 21-14 to go to 4-2 with them in the past 6 years. We played hard and fought back from a half-time deficit of 7 points to win the game. McNeil, as usual, gave us a good game but our guys were determined to get the victory. This win gave us a sweep of McNeil at all levels. Our offense struggled for the game but did a good job on drives. Our defense made two errors that hurt us but otherwise played well. We are now 7-0 and 4-0 for the year and play Cedar Park next week, who is 4-0 and 5-2 for the year. Great Job!!!!!!!!

Georgetown

Stony Point Defeats Georgetown

Our Varsity showed up and beat Georgetown 52-0 to go to 6-0 for the year and 3-0 in District. Our defense played very well in holding them to 74 yards total for the night. This coming from an offense that was averaging 414 per game. Our offense was again outstanding in accumulating 598 yards total and 52 points. We have now given up 31 points for the year on defense, as opposed to 74 at this time last year. Georgetown came out with a different defense and we had to adjust to that. Our penalties were way too numerous and we have to get that fixed! We were happy with the win and now turn our sights to McNeil (Homecoming) who has an outstanding offense and their defense has struggled this year. Great job!!!!!!!

Leander

Varsity 31-14 Win Over Leander

For the third year in a row, our Varsity group defeated Leander to run our record to a first time ever to 5-0. Our team played well despite a valiant effort by Leander. We have held them to a total of 24 points during the last 3 years. Our defense has given up only 31 points on the year compared to last year's 50. Our offense continued to do well in scoring 31 points in the game. We had some great efforts by individuals in this game and that was nice to see. We are currently 2-0 going into the Georgetown game (0-5) who were 5-0 last year when we played them. They also scored the most point vs us last year (24). We look forward to playing these guys and hopefully will come out on top. Great Job!!!!!!

Westwood

Stony Point 42-7 Over Westwood

Our Varsity group came out and dominated Westwood, taking a 28-0 lead at the half. Our offense did very good and was diverse with our run/pass ratio. We had ~ 250 yards each and multiple people did well. Our defense continued its outstanding play in limiting Westwood to one 4th quarter score and 17 yards on the ground. We have given up 17 total points this year. Our Special Teams play improved as well, recovering the opening kick-off and having some good punt returns. We now are 5-1 vs Westwood in my tenure here @ Stony Point. We play Leander, who is 3-1, next week at the old stadium @ 7:30. Great Job!!!!!

-- from Assistant Coach

Waco

Varsity is 3-0 (45-7 Win Over Waco)

Our Varsity defeated Waco to go to 3-0 for the first time in the program's history! Our offense was outstanding, accumulating ~600 yards of offense to their 169 for the night. We went up 38-0 at half-time and cruised to a 45-7 victory. Our defense continued its outstanding play and has given up 10 points in 3 games. Our Special Teams got better, but still need work. We are open this week but will resume play next week vs Westwood in our district opener @ the Palace and we will be visitors. It is also Middle school night! Great Job!!!!

Pflugerville Connally

Varsity Wins vs Pflugerville Connally 42-3

Our Varsity group started out slowly vs Connally trailing 3-0 @ Half. We then exploded for 42 unanswered points in the 2nd half. We outgained them 439-125 for the night. Our defense played very well, scoring on an interception, and our offense hit some big plays that got us over the hump. We play Waco here at the old stadium @ 7:30 next Friday. Waco is 0-2, losing to Belton and Copperas Cove both 36-24. We will be ready to play. Great Job!!!

-- from Assistant Coach

Alamo Heights

Varsity Defeats Alamo Heights

Our Varsity defeated Alamo Heights 29-0 in a well-played game. We had 466 yards to their 125, but we turned the ball over 2 times to limit our scoring. Our kids played well enough for a first game, but we know we must get better if we are to obtain our goals this year. Our defense played very well in recording the first shut-out of the year! Our offense was in control the entire game as well with many nice performances throughout tthe night. We play Connally this THURSDAY @ RRISD stadium and the game is at 7:00. It is also our Senior Parent Night! Thanks to all who made the trip to SA! Great Job!!

A&M Consolidated Scrimmage

Stony Point Defeats A&M in Scrimmage

Our Varsity came away victorious over A&M Consolidated this past Friday 34-0. Our offense hit some big pass plays and our defense shut them out for the second consecutive year, while scoring one on an interception. Our guys played well and we open with San Antonio Alamo Heights this Friday the 28th there. Great job!
