If you attend the SPHS-Euless Trinity game this Saturday, you'll have the opportunity to see one of their most popular football traditions -- the Haka. The Haka is a traditional dance of the Maori of New Zealand and since 2005, has been performed by the team before each game in the Maori tongue:
This team has created its own version of the Haka - one focusing on the important themes of the Trinity football program. From the website:
Here's a video of the new version of the Haka -- most likely the one we'll see this Saturday (from the back):

We Made the Playoffs -- What Does It Mean?
Updated: Saturday, October 23
For the fourth year in a row, Stony Point will represent our district in the Division I, District 16-5A playoff bracket. Here are some things to consider for the playoffs. Each year is a little different, so athletes need to listen closely to their coaches for the details.
- Playoffs begin the first week following the conclusion of the regular season, and run for six straight weeks, including the Thanksgiving weekend. Our first round opponent will be from District 15, which is anchored by the Austin ISD. Their teams are Austin, Westlake, Bowie, Akins, Anderson, and Del Valley. The final playoff spots in District 15 are still in play, so we may not know our opponent until after two of their games are finished on Saturday, November 6. The first round game location will either be in Round Rock at Reeves Stadium, or in the Austin area (maybe the Burger Center), depending on the opponent.
- The UIL allows playoff games to be scheduled on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. We won’t know the day, time, or location until each game is finished, and RRISD has contacted and reached an agreement with the next opposing team. As mentioned above, some location agreements are in place for the first round game, depending on the opponent. The 5A Championship games are already set for the new Dallas Cowboys stadium on December 16 - 18.
- When the time comes, the coaches will announce which sub-varsity players will continue to practice with the varsity team during the playoff run. Many freshman and JV players may continue to practice during the post-season. It’s up to the coaches, but a few sub-varsity players may be invited to dress out with the varsity during the playoff games.
- Should we make it to the third round of the playoffs, practices would likely be scheduled through the Thanksgiving holiday break.
- Tickets – details are still TBD. If things work the same as last year, expect advanced tickets at reduced prices to only be available at the SPHS campus (not at RRISD), general admission only, student athletic passes are not valid, and gate tickets on the day of the game (higher priced) to cost the same for students and adults.
And Now a Word from Our Booster Club President
Thursday, April 29
Excitement is building, the weather is turning, teams are being formed and our boys and their coaches are already hard at work fine tuning their skills as we enter another year of Stony Point Tiger Football.
Coming off another fantastic year both on and off the field for the Stony Point Football family, I wanted to send a quick note to thank the entire Booster Club membership who has helped grow this club in the past and welcome the new members who will drive the success of the club well into the future.
There is plenty of time between now and our first game in August, but now is the time to plan the year and jump on the opportunities we have to support Coach Chessher, his staff and our kids. As you know, those who fail to plan, plan to fail. Let’s not fail!
Over the coming weeks, the new board, along with the many who volunteer, will be coordinating and streamlining all the projects, responsibilities and “to do’s” that we face annually in an effort to run a best-in-class 5-A Football Booster Club. We cannot, however, keep up this level of commitment without the organized efforts of all of its members! By breaking down the big jobs into smaller pieces, each of us can pull together, get involved and step up without feeling overwhelmed. Together we will accomplish more than ever before and together we can help our boys now and for years to come.
The Spring Game is on May 22 and I look forward to welcoming you all there. As in years past, the Booster Club will be on hand to support our team and their families and we look forward to seeing you there as well. I want to take this opportunity to thank you all in advance for your support your time and your efforts.
Step Up - Stay Involved - Stony Point
Kindest Regards,
Kevin Finch – Booster Club President
Sponsors for the 2010 Season
Monday, June 22:
Stony Point High School has drawn more football fans than any other Round Rock ISD team for the past four years -- in excess of 3,500 fans per game. With the past two year's District Championship's and both year's making it to the State Semi-Finals, we expect even more this year.
The Stony Point Football program continues to perform on the field as well as off but only with YOUR help. This past spring, as part of a recent bond election, RRISD built a new wonderful weight room for the school. As nice as this is, however, they allocated ZERO money for new weight equipment. That means that our student athletes are using technologies and equipment that are a decade old! Our goal is to raise $25,000 to assist the school in outfitting this new weight room with modern more athlete friendly weights and racks.
Facts:
- In excess of 3,500 fans attend each game
- More the 250 families involved in the football program –plus Band, Cheer and Dance team
- Over 50,000 web hits per month (in the OFF SEASON)
- 26-4 last two seasons—longer seasons means more sponsor exposure
- Your Sponsorship is Tax Deductable!
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT! WE THANK YOU IN ADVANCE! GO TIGERS!
The team's motto -- The Right Way, Every Day, and Earning the Right To Win -- is exemplified on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
We are looking for sponsors for the 2010 season who want to support our program. We have three levels:
Tiger Blue
- $2,000
- Full-page advertisement in football program (when paid by September 1st)

UIL Realignment
Monday, February 1
The district Stony Point plays in has now changed for football and basketball, as it does every two years. Other teams in District 16 are:
- Leander
- Georgetown
- Pflugerville
- McNeil
- Round Rock
- Westwood
The University Scholastic League has a listing of the other districts. Another change as a result of this realignment is that our first playoff game - bi-district - will be against Austin area teams in District 15:
- Austin
- Austin Aikens
- Austin Anderson
- Austin Bowie
- Austin Westlake
- Del Valle
After that, our path to the playoffs remains very similar to past years.
